The screening instrument

This is the tool I run at in-person workshops: a few bodyweight squats on camera, joint angles estimated frame by frame, and the movement patterns that predict injury flagged live. Try the demo below.

Stand back so your whole body is in frame, phone or laptop at hip height, and do a few slow bodyweight squats. The screen estimates your joint positions and checks the frontal-plane patterns that predict injury — chiefly knee valgus (knees collapsing inward), squat depth, trunk lean and left/right asymmetry.

Private by design

Everything runs in your browser. No video, image or landmark ever leaves your device.

Behind the screen

Pose landmarks come from BlazePose running on-device. From those points the tool computes geometry — joint angles and frontal-plane indices — and runs each rep through the same criteria used in validated screens like the Landing Error Scoring System. It is a screening aid, not a diagnosis.

Knee valgus

Medial displacement of each knee relative to the foot in the frontal plane — the validated 'knees-over-toes' cue. The strongest movement predictor of non-contact ACL injury.

Squat depth

Hip crease relative to knee height at the bottom of each rep. Distinguishes a controlled, full-range squat from a shallow, stiff one.

Trunk lean & asymmetry

Lateral lean of the torso and the left-vs-right difference in knee control — early signs of a compensating, injury-prone pattern.

Educational screening only — not a medical diagnosis. If you have pain, swelling or instability, see a clinician. Screening runs locally in your browser; no video or image is uploaded or stored.
